Cost Effective Security Planning for Development Master Plan

Client :  KEO International Consultants

Date and Duration :  October 2012  – June 2015

Place of Performance :  Doha Zoo, Qatar

Qatar’s Public Works Authority (PWA) awarded the contract for the demolition of the buildings and facilities that were currently on site at the zoo, located opposite Aspire Park and Villagio Mall. These movements were part of a complete overhaul over five years with the plan to convert the zoo into a safari park.

The first phase of the new Zoo development is scheduled to open for visitors in late 2017 and is expected to be more than seven times the size of the previous 30 year old facility. The Zoo will include 3 hotels and one of the few 7* facilities earmarked for Qatar in coming years.

In 2013, PWA signed a multi-million dollar contract with an architectural and engineering firm to prepare plans for a new zoo. KEO International Consultants is serving as the projects design and construction supervision consultant.

It will work with HHCP+PJA, which was hired in December 2012 to prepare the concept Master Plan that includes over 3,000 animals in themed zones.

Restrata was appointed by KEO International Consultants for the Security Services Commission as part of the overall project plan. Restrata worked closely with HHCP and KEO from the outset of this project to ensure early and cost effective security planning was embedded within the Master Plan Design.

We have developed the following series of security reports, guidelines and documents for KEO and Qatar Zoo.
