Ras Laffan Port Expansion, Qatar

Client: Qatar Petroleum
Location: Ras Laffan City, Qatar

BACKGROUND

Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC), situated along the northeast coast of Qatar, is one of the fastest-growing industrial cities in the world.

With the anticipated volumes of cargo set to increase dramatically, the new port development is the key to the delivery of these cargoes to various parts of the world. The new port will be a world-class facility, constructed in phases to accommodate the developing industries that are expected to operate in the industrial city. This phase consists of the new LNG berths, liquid cargo berth, dry docks as well as repair yards.

The dredging, reclamation, and breakwaters will form part of a single contract that will enclose the area around the port. This land enhancement will include access to utilities and services for the new berths to be constructed within the port. The berths will be built on an incremental basis, with provision for at least the next 20 years. Provision was also made for industries that are likely to be based in Ras Laffan.

Restrata was contracted by Qatar Petroleum to provide extensive integration security services for the expanded port.
