BACKGROUND
Following the success of providing IPL 2020 with a bio-secure environment, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approached Restrata to create a similar COVID Safe model for PSL 2021 and to work with Abu Dhabi Cricket Board to help safely bring the Super League to a successful and safe conclusion.
PROJECT
The aim was to successfully maintain the tournament’s bio secure bubble using track and trace technology across an international stadium, 2 training grounds, 7 hotels and 10 coaches.
By implementing Restrata Platform‘s COVID Safe technology, the Pakistan Cricket Board could:
- Implement track and trace solutions to support the integrity of the bio-secure environment
- Divide the venue into zones to track assets and review social distancing and location history
- Monitor capacity and restrict access in all areas of the stadium 24/7
- Contact trace individual movements to close the loop and reduce exposure risk
PCB Case Study PSL took place over a 5-week period, involving more than 602 people operating within the designed bio secure bubble. All had user profiles created on the Restrata Platform that would be used to track and trace and keep the integrity of the bio secure bubble. This included, players, officials, vendors, PCB management, and stadium operating staff, that were divided across the 7 hotels. Restrata, carried out site surveys at all locations, designed the bio secure bubble to be fit for purpose, installed locators, issued FOBs to all users, and provided a bio secure, COVID Safe monitoring support service throughout.
Our Head of Projects and Training, Steve Morte was responsible for the delivery of the project and acted as the Bio Bubble Integration Director (BBID). He provided consultancy support and worked with PCB to develop their COVID Safe protocols and was responsible for outlining and overseeing the movement of users throughout by dividing the bubble at each venue and hotel into movement zones. The BBID provided training to PCB, designated Bio Bubble Integration Management (BBIMs) and delivered general awareness to all players, broadcasters, and match officials. The training to BBIMs allowed them to monitor the platform, track and trace their fob users and also act as COVID Safe Police.
