Date and duration: 2004 – Ongoing
Value of contract: $20M

BACKGROUND

West Qurna is one of Iraq‘s largest oil fields, located north of Rumaila field, west of Basra. West Qurna is believed to hold 43 billion barrels (6.8×109 m3) of recoverable reserves. In November 2009, an Exxon Mobil - Shell joint venture won a $50 billion contract to develop the 9-billion-barrels

PROJECT

Restrata was contracted by Exxon Mobil for the provision and maintenance of a Public Announcement and General Alarm (PAGA) System to be installed throughout the DS6 Camp in West Qurna I.

SOLUTIONS/SERVICES

  • System designed to provide broadcast audio via live voice paging, digital alarm and message playback, telephone dial-up paging, and UHF radio system interface, over loudspeakers distributed throughout the facility. In addition, the system accepts alarm inputs from the fire & gas system to activate alarms. In high noise areas, allowances are made to connect visual warning beacons to accompany the alarm broadcasts
  • System utilizes microprocessor technology and cutting edge digital voice techniques to provide superior performance and reliability for all types of facilities. From remote system monitoring, to complete system health checks, innovative features meet customer requirements in a wide range of applications
  • System can be divided into one or more zones which can be accessed independently for announcement or alarm broadcasts. Broadcasts are transmitted through loudspeakers installed throughout the facility. The system is modular in design and is easily expanded to include remote amplifiers and/or combinations of amplifiers. The area of coverage will be such that calls will be clearly audible in the paged operating areas and their surrounding areas
  • System is composed of one PAGA which consists of No. 2 cabinets:
    • No.1 Control Cabinet including: control and audio processing modules, one digital recorder, one interface, one VoIP Gateway and Advance Lite rack system. (Power consumption of Control Cabinet: about 1.000 W considering No. 10 beacons connected)
    • No.1 Amplification Cabinet with No.6 active 300 W rated power amplifiers + No.1 hot stand-by amplifier. (Power consumption of Amplifier Cabinet: about 3.000 W)
  • The System shall interface with the F&G system to action audible alarms.
    • PA Access and Alarm Initiation Panels include the following:
    • Zone Selection
    • Routine Speech Announcement Initiation
    • Emergency Speech Announcement initiation
    • All Call Initiation
    • Alarm Initiation
    • Alarm Cancel
    • All clear
    • System Busy Lamp
    • System Status Lamps
  • System allows programming of facilities for each individual Area and Building. These facilities will include:
    • Local PA Announcements – Routine and Emergency
    • Remote PA Announcements – Routine and Emergency
    • Local Alarm Initiation and Cancellation
    • Remote Alarm Initiation and Cancellation
    • Local Interface to Area or Camp Fire & Gas System
  • System networking is realized over a fibre optic network able to manage both audio and data transfer
