John is a highly experienced security and business sector professional with a proven track record of commercial success. Following an accomplished career in the British Army, he transitioned to the commercial sector and as a founding director of Olive Group, was instrumental in building a small start up company in a niche sector of the security market to a multimillion dollar turnover, broad spectrum security, technology integration and training organisation. Following 6 years of active operational leadership in the Group’s rapid growth and commercial success, John let the Group to assist Royal Dutch Shell corporate security department in preparing their strategic entry strategy to Iraq. As their senior advisor on security operations, he oversaw the operational implementation and co-ordination of all security projects in support of Shell’s hydrocarbon endeavours in the Southern Iraq oil fields. John left Shell in May 2015 to concentrate on providing bespoke security consultancy services.
Prior to his commercial career, John was a professional soldier and spent 25 years in the British Army, most notably as a member of 22 Special Air Service Regiment. During his service, he accumulated substantial operational experience in many theaters. John was awarded the Military Medal (MM) during operations in Gulf War 1 and was mentioned In Dispatches for Special Duties/Counter Terrorism service in Northern Ireland. He is also a graduate of Leicester University and hold a Masters degree (MSc) in Security and Risk Management.
